Saturn Aura Hybrid
Vehicle
The 2007
Saturn Aura Green Line hybrid debuted at the 2006 Los
Angeles Auto Show. Based on the new midsized Aura, the
hybrid Aura will begin production sometime in early
2007 and will hopefully be available in late Spring of the same
year.
The Green Line Aura hybrid
will offer a 164-hp 2.4 liter four-cylinder gasoline
engine coupled with an electric motor, however, the Aura
hybrid will not be able to function on electric power
only and is considered a mild hybrid.
Still, GM claims the
new hybrid Aura will offer 20 to 25 percent better fuel
economy that a standard Aura, while costing just less
than $2,500.00 more than a conventional Aura. Thus, the
Aura hybrid should start around $23,000.
The Aura showed well at
both the the LA and Detroit Auto Shows and is expected
to be a big seller with its good looks and a much
improved 'Saturn-interior'.
GM has not yet stated how many
Aura hybrids it will put into
the market in 2007.
